Infinity Bug

Background

I wrote this song around 2016 when I came up with the original version of what later became the verse section. It went like this:

I thought that this section had potential to become a song but I didn’t really know what to do with it at the time. As you can see it started off being closer to something by Justin King instead of Waves by Guthrie Govan. It changed form a few times and went from a solo guitar piece to a piece for two guitars to a piece for one guitar and a piano but none of these versions felt right until I found out I liked synths around 2018. After playing around with FabFilter Twin 2 and some drum samples I basically finished the song in one day and Infinity Bug was born.

Performance notes

I would like Guitar Pro to add a “Let Vibrate” function since “Let Ring” doesn’t really work like I want it to.

Because of this and because I play the song in a specific way it has been hard to keep the clutter-level down. You are free to play this however you want of course but I think that the way I play it is the easiest.

Bars 17 and later 21, 30 & 34 require some practice, especially if you are not used to tapping with two fingers. I hold the pick with my thumb and index finger when I play the descending tapping part and tap with my middle and ring fingers. I strum the final Em7 chord with my middle finger. It might seem strange but it makes sense since you are already resting it on the low E string. All you have to do is slash across the strings to complete the bar.
